Porsche 911 2.4S Engine Rebuilt and Detailed by SPS Engines

The process of rebuilding a vehicle engine is one that requires precision, attention to detail and experience;

these attributes are accentuated when applied to a Porsche Engine.

There may be a number of reasons for rebuilding a customer's engine, be it worn components, damage to internal or external parts or to improve performance. With SPS Engines, my customers can expect the highest level of service and a proven process which involves consultations with the customer and agreeing a plan for what work will be completed to achieve the desired result.

Each engine goes through three distinct processes:

1 - Initial Evaluation

The engine is either removed from the car by me or delivered to me as removed.

It is then dismantled to inspect wear and condition of critical parts.

At this stage an estimate is prepared for the customer to highlight work required:

- Parts to be replaced

- Parts to be re-machined

- Parts which will be cosmetically re-finished (such as re-plating and powder coating)

- Discuss anticipated labour costs

- Create a plan of work with the customer in order to achieve their desired end goal

2 - Machining Work, Cleaning and Preparation

Once a plan has been agreed with the customer, parts that require machining will be processed, new parts will be ordered and plating and powder coating will be scheduled. All remaining items that will be re-used will be cleaned, either by Ultrasonic, chemical or Aqua Blasting to achieve the correct OEM finish.

3 - Final Inspection and Assembly

All parts now go through final inspection process to check machining tolerances are correct

They are then cleaned for a final time and engine assembly commences.

Once the engine is built it is either returned to the customer or re-fitted to the car.

If I am re-installing the engine I will conduct the initial start-up and monitoring of the engine running as it warms up and heat cycles to monitor for any leaks and correct running.

At all stages the customer is kept informed and updated as to how the project is progressing.

Please get in touch to discuss your project.
